Clifton Packaging reflects on a successful year since its acquisition by Cartonpack
One year after joining the Cartonpack Group, Clifton Packaging confirms a path of growth and transformation, marked by strategic investments, technological innovation and a strong strengthening of its manufacturing capabilities in the UK.
Clifton Packaging has strengthened its UK manufacturing since its acquisition by Italian packaging giant Carton Pack.Clifton Packaging (‘Clifton’) has gone from strength to strength since its acquisition last year by Italian packaging giant Cartonpack Group, delivering one of the most dynamic chapters in the company’s 40-year-old history.

Over the last twelve months, Clifton has invested more than a million pounds in advanced equipment, including machines, automation, and people. Its investments have increased production capacity and enhanced product quality, and the company’s Packaging Centre of Excellence has enhanced its technical capabilities to become a world-class innovation hub. These investments have helped to cement Clifton’s position as a cross-industry destination for testing, prototyping and collaboration.

“We have had a transformative year in terms of investments and expansion,” said Shane D'Souza, CEO of Clifton Packaging, reflecting on the progress over the last year.
“We continue to champion UK manufacturing as flexible packaging leaders, with our passionate team and innovation-focused strategy. Now, as part of the Cartonpack Group, we have also strengthened the technical support to serve our customers better.”

UK Packaging Awards
This momentum of the year, characterised by operational excellence and impressive year-on-year growth, was recognised when Clifton Packaging was shortlisted for “Packaging Company of the Year” at the 2025 UK Packaging Awards.

Innovation has been key to Clifton’s growth. The company leads in high-definition flexo printing, packaging films and bespoke-shaped pouches, but over the past year has seen an acceleration in sustainable material development, with customers increasingly turning to Clifton to transition to mono-material structures, optimise recyclability, and reduce carbon footprint. With improved operational efficiency, Clifton aims to achieve record forecasts of flexible pouch packs in 2026, up from 50 million produced in 2024.

Speaking on what lies ahead, D’Souza added: “We are setting out from here to scale intelligently, invest in next-generation technologies and strengthen our role further as a trusted partner for brands navigating the changing landscape. We look forward to setting the benchmark for high-performance sustainable packaging.”
